Carter's History - Just Life

August 2005
On Monday August 22, 2005 at 12:45a.m.
Carter T Anderson was born. He was 10 pounds 2ounces, and was 22.5inches long.

September 2005
On the 9th Carter was admitted to CMC. Carter had open heart surgery on the 14th to fix his heart defects; transposition of the great vessels, vsd, and corartation of the aorta. Carter went on the ECMO machine on the 20th and came off 15 days later.

October 5, 2005
Carter had to go to the Cath Lab and get an ASD, hole in the heart.

November 2005
On the 3rd Carter's Breathing Tube came out , and we finally got to hold him again. Carter moved out of the CVRU on the 9th, and on the 28th Carter got a G-Tube= a feeding tube.

December 13, 2005
Carter was released from the hospital.

January 17, 2006
Carter got his G-tube taken out and a Mickey Button put in it's place. A Mickey Button is smaller and easier to take care of.

February 2006
On the 21st Carter cut his 2nd tooth. On the 22nd Carter turned 6 months, and rolled over for the first time!

May 2006
On the 22nd Carter not only turned 9 months but he also was taken off his last 2 medications! No more Med's!! Carter took his first plane ride on the 25th, and he let everyone know he was on board!

August 2006
Carter celebrated his 1st Birthday with friends and family at Grandpa and Sweet Peas! Carter is now sitting without support for over an hour!

September 2006
On the 1st the doctors gave us the okay to remove Carter's Mic-Key Button at home. Alison and Carter did their first Heart Walk on the 16th

November 2006
Carter has slept through the night consistently for 1 week now. On the 25th Carter got his first real haircut

December 9, 2006
Carter did his 1st baby sign to Aunt Sara- Drink, and he finally put a ball into a container!

January 2007
Carter is on the move, and he is fast! We made Carter a playroom since he got sooo many new toys. We started swimming this month.
Carter finally got his 2 top second year molars.

February 2007
Carter started pulling up to standing all by himself, and he started cruising. On the 10th Carter went to his first circus, and on the 18th Carter got his last tooth

March 2007
Carter sat up all by himself. We got Zoe!

April 2007
Carter can say dog, and mama. He say's ma for just about everything. Like if he throws his cup he say's "ma" for someone to give it back to him. He's also getting really good and cruising and wall walking. He really likes to open doors.

May 2007
On the 10th Carter started speech therapy. On the 19th Carter got his first fat lip! He fell while holding onto the toilet!

June 2007
Carter started using his shape sorter correctly. On the 23rd Carter took his first steps!

July 2007
On the 1st Carter successfully put rings on a stick! And on the 5th Carter stacked cups on top of each other. July 6-9 Carter Stayed with Grandma Linda...mom and Carter's first 24 hours apart

August 2007

September 15, 2007
We had a very successful Heart Walk.

October 2007
The fam went on a trip to Florida from the 19th-24th! On the 26th Carter got a big boy bed! No more crib

November 2007
We said goodbye to Gymboree. On the 11th got his 1st time out for hitting mom. Carter went to the Wiggles with Kassidy and Gabby on the 14th!

December 2007
Carter started saying Car, and Duck. On the 4th Carter went to the neurologist, and passed the Autism test. During PT Carter stood up from the middle of the room all by himself on the 6th.

January 2008
Carter was picked to be on the valentine for the American Heart Association Charlotte. Carter can say a sentence " it's a car!"

February 2008
Carter started standing from the middle of the floor!!! Carter is now waving good bye, clapping his hands correctly, and climbing on and off the furniture.

March 2008
Carter started using 2 signs milk and more. Carter's trying to run.

April 2008
Carter staring using a fork! Carter can show you his ears, mouth, nose, head, toes, and sometimes his eyes.

May 2008
Carter got his passport! Canada here we come!

June 2008
Carter started using more signs like please and help. He can identify over 60 pictures! I ask him to show me something and he points to what I asked him to show me.

August 2008
Carter had a birthday party with some friends, Elmo and Big Bird were the greeters, and Tyrone came(Linda dressed up as Tyrone). Carter's learning his numbers he can say 1, 2, 4,8 and 9. August 26th Carter had his first solo swim lesson

September 2008 Carter started saying bye bye Dad, and bye bye James.
We also started potty training. September 1st Carter went to Matthews Alive with Grandma Linda and Grandpa Danny and Aunt Jen
September 20th Carter's 3rd Heart Walk!

October 2008
Carter is starting to count. He can put on his Crocs all by himself. He can tell or show us what he wants to eat (he say's Donald all the time...for McDonalds. Sometimes he goes to the pantry and pick out what snack he wants and brings it to me)
On Halloween Carter had a great time trick or treating for the first time. He didn't say trick or treat, we got him to say trick once and treat once. He loved that people we giving him stuff just for come to their door!

November 2008
On the 1st Carter peddled on his tricycle for the first time!! Carter's first day of school was the 3rd.

December 2008
Carter stayed at Grandpa Don's house for a week and a half. We visited Great Grandma Jeanne, and Great Grandma Margo & Great Grandpa Don too.
Carter had a fun christmas this year. He really loved opening up presents. He didn't care if they were for him or not he just wanted to rip open all the presents. Carter also really like driving around and looking at all the christmas decorations on peoples houses.

January 2009
Carter started saying naughty words. But his favorite word is "ridiculous". Carter had his first snow day...it only snowed an inch. Carter fed a Giraffe.

February 2009
Carter's cousin's came to visit. Levine Cardiac Kids had a social event at Build a Bear. Carter starts his OT and PT finally!

March 2009
Carter started to use the potty! We put our house on the market...Texas here we come. Carter washed a car for the first time.

April 2009
Carter went to the Special Olympics and had his first Easter Egg Hunt. Carter had 5 Egg Hunts! We celebrated our support groups 2nd year anniversary.

May 2009
Carter finally Jumped! Carter got his leg braces. Aunt Sara came to visit and we went to the beach with Grandma Linda and Grandpa Danny!
Carter got the "Best Effort" Award at school

June 2009
the 3rd was the last day of school. Carter got his first Harley!

July 7, 2009
Carter had an early birthday party.

August 2009
On the 11th Carter went to the Cath Lab to test to close the ASD (hole in his heart). They could not test the hole because most of Carter's veins were damaged from all the procedures done in 2005.
August 17, 2009 Carter got a Lung Scan to see if he need's his pulmonary arteries fixed.
Carter turned 4! We had a fun day. We went to Sports Connection with Kassidy and Jason, Carter got to walk around the house naked...he even opened his presents naked! We went to the pool with Dad. It was a super fun birthday

September 2009
Carter rode a horse for the first time! He loved it. the 19th was Carter's 4th Heart Walk. On September 21, 2009 Transapatic Cath to close his ASD

October 2009
Carter went to the movies for the first time and saw Toy Story in 3D on the 8th! Carter was Buzz Lightyear for Halloween

December 2009
On the 3rd we found out that Carter has a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. On the 6th Carter was admitted to Levine Children's Hospital for Meningitis. After he beat the Meningitis Carter got a Staph infection. The doctors think he has Endocriditious which is and infection of the device in his heart.

January 2010
Carter was released on January 2, 2010 with a PICC line and we have 4 more weeks of IV antibiotics. Carter learns to walk again

February 2010
On the 4th Carter got his PICC line out! Grandpa and Sweet Pea come to visit

March 2010
On the 26th Carter had his 2nd Special Olympics.
March 27- April 3rd Carter went to Disney with Grandpa, Sweet Pea, and mom! Dad meet us in Orlando to do the drive home

April 2010
April 17th LCK 3rd Annual Picnic. On the 30th Carter had his first MRI

May 2010
15-16 We went to ATL to visit Doug, Lori, Dylan, Logan, Dave, Ashley, and Aubree. On the 21st, we spent 2 hours at camp and had to leave because Carter got sick. So on the 23rd we pretended to have our own camp
May 27 Carter graduated from Preschool

July 2010
We went to Austin Texas, and we did our north trip.

August 2010
Carter had 3 days of summer school. On August 16th Carter started kindergarten. On August 22 Carter turned 5! We had a pool party for him at our neighborhood pool.

September 2010
We walked in our 5th Heart Walk!

October 2010
Alison-mom got a part time job at Gymboree as a play gym teacher, Carter started horse back riding again, Carter and Alison-mom ran 2 5k's with our friend Stacey, Grandpa came down to visit bringing with him a new bike, and Carter and our support group made the local news!
We went Trick or Treating with Friends from school. Carter was Spider man and Alison-mom was Tinker Bell. Carter loved trick or treating, he would run up with the boys and knock on the door and say "Trick or Treat" then start running back to me but if he forgot to say Thank you he'd stop half way turn around run back and yell "Thank You"

November 2010
Carter and Alison-Mom went to Colorado and spent Thanksgiving with the Foster's. We got to meet the newest member Libby.

December 2010
Carter got a new bed, thanks to Grandma Linda. Alison had her 5th annual cookie night. We said goodbye to a dear friend Jacob Jackson, he was an amazing young man. Carter got to see lots of Christmas lights. Carter and Alison-mom went up to Chicago for Christmas. Brian-dad came up on Christmas Eve. We had our 4 Christmas's. Carter went sledding for the first time. We attempted to make a snowman.

January 2011
January started out very busy! Alison-mom completed her 2nd Marathon, and Carter got a trip to disney because of it. Carter went on his first roller coaster ride and loved it!

February 2011
Brian quit smoking! We participated in LCK's first Walk A Thon. Capone got really sick. We went to Atlanta to celebrate Dylan and Logan's 2nd birthday. Carter got 100% on a reading test!!

March 2011
On March 3rd we said good bye to Capone. He was an awesome dog and we will miss him. Carter got a Big Wheel! Aunt Sara came to visit and we made her feed a giraffe.

April 2011
On Alison-mom's birthday Carter lost his first tooth and lost his 2nd tooth on the 9th. On the 8th Carter participated in his 3rd Special Olympics. Carter and Alison-mom went to Atlanta to meet up with Brian-Dad and play with Dylan and Logan. Sweet Pea and grandpa came to visit during Carter's spring break and Easter. We celebrated LCK's anniversary with the annual picnic.

May 2011
We went strawberry picking, Carter thought it was cool to pick all the green strawberries. On mothers day we went to Carowinds and rode some roller coasters. Carter is now out of beginners swimming lessons, and on to intermediate. Aunt Sara came down for Camp LUCK! Carter got to climb a wall, go for a canoe ride, swim, play in a sand pit, go on a scavenger hunt, and a nature walk. On the 25th Carter had his first EEG, and all looks normal

June 2011
Sweet Pea and Grandpa came to visit while they were in between homes. Carter had another MRI. Grandpa and Carter built a sandbox and we filled it with blue and green sand. We go to Carowinds once a week and the pool almost everyday.

July 2011
was full of travel! Carter and Alison-mom spent the 4th of July with friends, and Danny and Linda, and then Carowinds. On the 8th we went to Austin to visit dad. We went on the boat a bunch, Carter big boy bowled for the first time, we went to a cave, and to North Padre beach. Carter and Alison-mom went to Dallas to visit Aunt Marina and Uncle Greg. Carter perfected diving for his dive toys there, and he jumped off a dive board for the first time. After Dallas the fam went to Denver to see Sweet Pea and Grandpa's new house. We saw mermaids, cousin Libby and her parents, and we slide down a 2mile long slide! Carter and Alison meet dad in Atlanta to get our car back, and we got to see Doug and Lori and Dylan and Logan! We had a great trip.

August 2011
Carter turned 6! We celebrated with a pirate party! Carter also started school.

September 2011
Carter got to go to Matthews Alive. We walked in our 6th Heart Walk! Carter got a Heart Hero Cape, and a survivor hat. The next day we went apple picking in the mountain's. Carter also started yoga class.

October 2011
Carter went on a school field trip to a pumpkin farm. We went to Boo fest at Carowinds. Carter started horse backing riding therapy again. We went trick or treating with Ryan and Tylor again.

November 2011
Carter and Alison-mom went to Colorado for Thanksgiving with the Foster's.

December 2011
Carter went to Levine Cardiac Kids holiday party. Alison-mom hosted cookie night. We stayed in South Carolina for christmas this year. Grandpa, sweet pea, and Sara came to visit.
